Ski Borovets
Beautiful scenery and fabulous skiing !!!
Borovets ski resort has everything! It is the first ever ski resort in Bulgaria and dates back to the 19
th
century when it was an exclusive resort known only to a few - but these days everyone has the opportunity to experience this fantastic, fun ski destination.
Borovets is set amidst the majestic forests of the Rila Mountains, which was once a hunting ground for the Kings of Bulgaria but is now known as an international resort. There are lots of bars and cafes, cosy little restaurants, night clubs and great après-ski!
The resort of Borovets is situated on the northern slopes of the Rila mountain at an altitude of 1350 metres. It is easily accessible from all parts of Bulgaria and is a well thought out, family friendly place to spend some time in the snow. There is skiing for all abilities from beginners to Advanced.
Beginners start their holiday on the nursery slopes with a view to heading for the gondola lift and a more challenging run by the end of the week.
For intermediates there is a wide choice of runs with excellent and exciting skiing ranging from wide sunny runs in the Moussala basin to scenic looping trails through the trees. From the top you can try one of the longest downhill runs in Bulgaria.
For the advanced skiers among us you can test your skills on the World Cup Competition run and even enjoy the more difficult intermediate runs. For those of you who enjoy off piste skiing, there are opportunities and diversions which will certainly keep you busy.
Snowboarders are also well catered for at Borovets. There is a Rotata half-pipe with a vertical drop of 320m. The run was designed with both advanced riders and beginners in mind, so there should be something for everyone here. The Rotata is even equipped with its own drag.
The facilities in Borovets are really very good. There are plenty of restaurants and bars with something for everyone. You can sit in a cosy inn in front of a log fire or for the young at heart, there are the busy bars with loud music and dancing. But wherever you choose to have your après-ski, you will have a fantastic time mixing with people from all over Europe and generally having big fun!
Lift passes and ski hire will obviously differ every season, so a fixed price cannot be given but we can give a general idea of what the prices were for the 2006/2007 season.
